This is NOT how government is supposed to work. If you look at the city's outline
for the "O'Hare Modernization Program",
it says:
"Our plan also protects local taxpayers. No local or state tax dollars will be used to fund the O'Hare Modernization Program. Funding for this program comes from airline backed bonds, passenger facility charges and federal monies."
Airline backed bonds? Let's see....UAL is in pretty bad shape and American
isn't doing much better!!! We believe these companies can't back their current
flights and employees much less this airport expansion plan! Who is Daley kidding???
The O'Hare Expansion plan is about money for his friends, the contractors.
Not about doing anything good for the city of Chicago. Air Traffic Controllers
have been complaining since BEFORE the closing of Meigs that they just can't
handle any increase in flights, but the Mayor knows better. It's a shame to
say it, but only after there's a disaster in the sky, and innocent people lose
their lives will anyone actually admit this.
