IS Illinois Attorney General, Lisa Madigan playing favorites?

In a public statement this week, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan accused the CTA Board of doing something they shouldn't have done, when in fact, it was the EXACT same thing Dick Daley did to justify his secret meeting to close and destroy Meigs Field. Click here to read my letter to the media regarding this as seen in the Chicago Sun Times on Sept. 7, 2003. (titled, Daley's Midnight Run)

Mayor Daley insinuates emergency landing was planned!

According to a story in the Chicago Sun-Times, Mayor Dick all but came right out and said that the pilot who made an emergency landing last weekend, intended to land at Meigs Field all along. Never mind that this pilot, a life long aviator with an airplane and helicopter rating was in trouble. Richard Randall of Standish Maine had a serious problem and when faced with that challenge while in the air, you pick what you think is best for your safety and that of others. I'm sure pissing off Dick was the last thing on his mind! Meigs was the safest place for him to land. I seriously doubt that Mr. Randall would risk jail, losing his pilot's license and probably a life-long court battle with the City of Chicago simply to "embarass" his honor! Once again Dick proves what an arrogant Dick he can be.

The Chicago Air & Water show is coming up!

The Chicago Air and Water show is coming up on August 16th and 17th. One of the largest (if not THE largest) free airshow's in the country will be featuring everything from the B1-B Bomber to the .....Demolition Dick Blimp? ;) For more information on the Chicago Air and Water Show you can visit the Chicago Tribune's website.

Dick meets Dick!

Ben Bradley from Chicago's Channel 7 news (WLS-TV, the ABC local affiliate) had the honor of making the introduction of his honor, Mayor Richard Daley to Demolition Dick! At the end of his interview, Bradley states that "the mayor politely suggested that all profits go to charity". I guess that means that the Mayor will donate all profits from his riverboat casino to charity when it goes in there next year!! ;)

Chicago's WLS-TV Channel 7 added to Television media coverage list

Chicago's Channel 7 news today was added to the growing list of media coverage of Demolition Dick. Featuring Demolition Dick on the 6 and 10 O'Clock News is encouraging. Apparently the interest in Meigs Field is still present. We'd like to thank Ben Bradley and Channel 7 for presenting a fair and accurate story, and of course...for introducing Dick....to Dick. ;)

Previous media coverage includes Fox News Chicago. Demolition Dick also snuck onto the set of the CBS Morning News on the morning of July 4th! He can be seen during the music segment featuring Colin Blades. :)

Demolition Dick Scars Chicago's Lakefront:

First, it was for the "safety of all Chicagoans" as he smugly stood there in front of news cameras on April 1st. "Everyone in the city is worried about terrorists using Meigs Field, since it is so close" he said...with that "cat that ate the canary" smirk on his face. He wasn't fooling anyone though. Everyone could see the visions of loaded dice in his eyes.

I was down there the next day and asked about a dozen people walking around by the Adler Planetarium and the Museum "if they felt safer with Meigs Field Closed and now destroyed"? Not one of them said yes. Many of them didn't even know it happened and all of them were almost insulted by insinuating that Meigs posed a threat at all!

Days later in an Aviation Sub Committee hearing, Daley was blasted over and over for his actions. (Click here to hear an MP3 of Ranking member DeFazio (D, OR) suggesting the troops of Iraqi Freedom practice repairing airports by starting on Meigs Field!)
Other leaders in this country were disappointed and outraged that he'd have the nerve to do such a thing without public input, Federal Aviation Administration and IDOT approval. Days later, Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge came to town and blew Daley's alibi wide open. Then and only then did Daley fess up to the real reason he did what he did. To "make a park". Just what the city needs. The fact of the matter is, an airliner taking off from Midway, could get there and do much more damage in about the same amount of time as a small plane departing Meigs. It was a stupid argument.....plain and simple.

What he's (Daley) actually done....is marred one of the most spectacular entries into ANY city in the country! Why do you think The Microsoft Corporation chose Meigs Field for it's starting point on ALL of the computer versions of Flight Simulator? Because of it's stunning beauty and architecture. Now....anyone cruising the lakefront admiring the view see what this guy did on a whim, in the middle of the night, without warning, and he actually has the audacity of nerve to tell the city of Bensenville to "Relax" regarding the O'Hare Modernization Program!! If I lived in his "demolition zone", I'd be on my porch with a shotgun. We all know what he's now capable of doing to "avoid public debate".

This was a bold move on Dick's part. One of many that would be launched shortly afterwards. A great political shell game. Where would the public focus? So much happened at once! To me...Dick Daley is a liar....plain and simple for not having the guts up front, to say why he really destroyed the airport. Everytime you see him on television, trying to look serious about a serious situation, you have to question the validity of what he's saying. The man stood there....looked into the cameras and lied. I think the worst part was....that even though every reporter in there KNEW he was lying, but no one would "call him out" on it.

Here's something a lot more serious for you to concentrate on Dick. Your City is #1 in Murders in this country.....but you're worried about a space for your Casino. (What's wrong with that picture???)

Has Chicago's Mayor gone Mad?

Mad? That's a tough word. After reading 2 stories in today's papers (Sunday June 22, 2003) one really has to ponder this question. The first story I came across reading an Associated Press article in the Courier News. Click HERE to go to the article, but let me save you the sickness of the city of Chicago's PR firm! The dumbest quote yet, in the "positive image campaign for the new Meigs Park" reads...."My dream would be to bring a world championship to Chicago". What exciting, exhilarating sport might he be speaking of you ask? FISHING! Yep....the dream of just millions of people I think. (Sarcasm off)

The next dumb article/quote of the day comes from the Chicago Tribune. That one reads.... "There are more people who own fishing poles than airplanes," La Porta said. Wow! I guess I never looked at it like that! But....aren't there more places to fish in Illinois....than there are airports? ;) Aren't there more places to fish on the lakefront alone than there are airports in Illinois! I don't know who's coming up with this stuff. (Probably Dick himself after seeing him blunder on Fox News in the Morning last week! If the city is paying someone to come up with this stuff.....they should be fired! ;)

Daley obviously doesn't think too quick on his feet anymore either. On Fox News in the Morning the other morning, in a response to Fox News' Bill O'Reilly's roasting him about the murder rate in his city, and crime in general in the Englewood neighborhood, O'Reilly said "it's time to bring out the big guns and take care of this neighborhood!" Daley.........(throwing himself into a political spin mode) tried to make it sound as though O'Reilly was suggesting that "Daley should bring in the military and start blowing up the neighborhood!" Good Spin Dick........NOT! Try addressing the issue, not attacking the critic! It wasn't even a valiant effort of dodging the issue because he's Rich Daley you know, he doesn't have to answer to anyone! I think he should move into the Englewood neighborhood for a year or so. Then let's see how seriously he takes issue with it. Or maybe a little lakeside fishing should be in cards soon for Dick!

A Riverboat Casino in Chicago? Where ever would they put it???

Well...here my prediction of how it's going to go down. The legislature will find a way to get the city of Chicago a gaming license. Never mind it's NEVER been done in this country before and one can ONLY imagine the corruption and mishandling of funds that would occur if the city DID get this license, we're talking about Demolition Dick here.... They'll give him his license but make him adhere to current state gaming rules so as not to look like they're giving into him too much. Then....being that he'll have to float that casino somewhere...he might as well put it at Meigs! Then he'll blame the legislature for "forcing him to put it there"! ;) I'll bet you he's having his Casino chips made as we speak!!! :) Just think of how upset all those fishermen will be too!!! ;)

Illinois Legislature - Why ARE they giving into his every whim?

It's almost scary. There doesn't seem to be anything he (Daley) can't do right now. In the O'Hare Expansion Plan.....OOPS, I'm sorry, I mean the "O'Hare Modernization Plan", (it sounds more suburban friendly now!) there were almost a dozen current laws "amended" to exclude the city of Chicago from them if they were to violate these laws in the name of the "O'Hare Modernization Plan" Laws our legislature enacted at some point to protect people, property and the deceased. But all Dick has to do is make a few phone calls and POOF! They don't apply to him anymore. Read through this legislation several times...it will become clear that people in this state MUST get more involved in what these elected officials are doing downstate!

I would like just ONE law changed in the next session. It would be this:

If Dick Daley wants to spread his totalitarian-like ways beyond the city of Chicago and continue to do things that affect people all over the state...then the entire State of Illinois should be able to vote in the Chicago Mayoral Race....and it should be held again immediately because this guy is running rough-shot over everyone in the state right now. Why?

O'Hare Expansion - Can Daley really "Quick-Take" Gary, Indiana?

No. But if they're not careful....he will. Somehow...someway. Airport, Riverboat Casinos and all. You know he's thought about it!!! ;) Especially since BOEING has now announced it's pulling it's corporate aircraft from Midway and moving them to Gary!
Remember.... if he can't "quick-take" it......he'll figure out a way to control it.

Of course....these are my views on the actions that have occurred over the past few months. Please research them yourself if you find them troubling or hard to believe. I know I did. Have a question? Feel free to email me at Bill@demolitiondick.com . If you're going to give me some "fish" story though......please save it. :)
